Price List

The following price lists are for direct services, funeral and memorial services are costed separately.

Prices are based on current Department of Health Victoria, Chewton Cemetery, Remembrance Parks Central Victoria (Crematorium) and The Departure costs. Final costs may be subject to change.

A separate engagement of a death doula is highly recommended.


DIRECT SHROUDED BURIAL

1. Professional Service - Cost: $1300

Includes:

  • Consultations and arrangements.

  • Administrative and legal requirements.

  • Arranging for the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death.

  • Registering the death with Births, Deaths & Marriages and request for Death Certificate.

  • Application for Interment Authorisation - Bodily Remains.

  • Returning the Death Certificate to a designated person.

2. Burial - Cost: $1740

Includes:

  • Natural burial ground interment.

  • Communications and arrangements with cemetery trust.

  • Interment (digging) fees

Potential Additional Costs:

  • Pall bearer assistance $150 per person.

  • Plot at cemetery of choice.

  • $150 for rocky ground.

  • Headstone or grave marker.

3. Shroud, hammock & carrier - Cost: $910

Includes:

  • A cotton or linen shroud.

  • A biodegradable hammock for transferral to grave.

  • Use of a wooden carrier and cover for transport.

Potential Additional Costs:

  • A coffin or commercially made shroud: price on request.

4. Collection & Transportation - Cost: $550

Includes:

  • Collection of the deceased. The standard service area is Castlemaine and surrounds (30km radius).

  • Transport to cemetery and driver fee.

Potential Additional Costs:

  • Travel more than 30km from Castlemaine: +$1.50 per kilometre.

  • Holding facility (Daylesford) fees before transfer: +$150 per day.

Total Estimated Base Cost: $4500

DIRECT SHROUDED CREMATION

1. Professional Service - Cost: $1450

Includes:

Consultations and arrangements.

  • Administrative and legal requirements.

  • Arranging for the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death.

  • Arranging for the Certificate of Registered Medical Practitioner Authorising Cremation.

  • Submitting the Cremation Authorisation - Bodily Remains application.

  • Registering the death with Births, Deaths & Marriages and request for Death Certificate.

  • Returning the Death Certificate to a designated person.

Potential Additional Costs:

  • If cremains are interred in a cemetery, submitting the Interment Cremated Human Remains application.

2. Cremation Fees - Cost: $925

Includes:

  • A cremation for a standard adult, weekday, business hours cremation (before 4pm).

  • A standard urn for retaining ashes.

Potential Additional Costs:

  • Fees for cremations outside weekday business hours, on weekends, or public holidays: +$600-705.

  • Witness of cremation (up to 6 people): +$110.

  • An alternative urn: price on request.

  • Pall bearer assistance $150 per person.

3. Shroud & carrier - Cost: $950

Includes:

  • A cotton or linen shroud.

  • Wooden carrier and cover for transport.

Potential Additional Costs:

  • A coffin or commercially made shroud: price on request.

4. Collection & Transportation - Cost: $675

Includes:

  • Collection of the deceased. The standard service area is Castlemaine and surrounds (30km radius).

  • Transport to crematorium in Bendigo and driver fee.

  • Return of cremains to designated person.

Potential Additional Costs:

  • Travel more than 30km from Castlemaine (pick-up): +$1.50 per kilometre.

  • Holding facility fees (Daylesford) before transfer: +$150 per day.
